Quality of Life. Enforce Current Codes especially when dealing with landlords that do not comply. Remove codes that no longer work and put in new codes that go with the current times.

Infrastructure. Work with our City Engineering Department and Water Department on a comprehensive long-range program to fix and repair our sidewalks, streets and sewer system.

Move Oneida Forward. Be a Business-Friendly City. Work to help strengthen the businesses we currently have and promote a business friendly atmosphere. Welcome New Business to the City of Oneida. Call, send letters to businesses inviting them to bring their operation to the City of Oneida. Starting with Madison County, surrounding counties, NY State and the Country. With New Business coming into our City we will become stronger, viable and generate more Sales Tax Revenue. We can be, A Little Bit of America at its Best! Together, we can Move Oneida Forward!

Hi everyone! I’d like to thank you all for your support and encouragement to run for Mayor in the City Oneida. 39 years ago we moved to Oneida and I’ve been involved with our City from the beginning, serving in some capacity in Civic Duty. I’ve been serving on the Common Council 4th Ward for the last 7 years now. It is time to take the next step. It would be my greatest honor to serve our wonderful City as your Mayor.

Background: Family - Married 44 years to John (Jerry), he is retired & working part time for Oneida Healthcare Center, Two Adult Children: Justin Acker, Recreation Coordinator City of Oneida Parks & Recreation Department, Sunshine Acker Hammon: Owner/Operator of the Fireside Café, Oneida. Three grandchildren: Keegan, Trent (Graduates of Oneida High School) and Lillian, a Senior in the Fall at Oneida High School.

Professional: Smith’s Flooring & Paint Center, Store Manager for the past 20 years. Owner of Oneida Office Supply, Main Street, 23 years. 4th Ward Oneida City Common Council, Aug 2012 to the Present, Deputy Mayor 2016-2017. D&D Carpet, Rome, NY: Store Manager, WMCR Radio: Sales, On Air Shows, CRM Rental Management: Office Manager, Payroll Manager.

Civic Involvement: 4th Ward Common Council, Deputy Mayor, Team Member for Contract Negotiations for the Oneida City Police Department, Fire Department and the CSEA. Team member to update the LED Sign Ordinance this past year. Team member for City Charter Review and Change. FEMA Coordinator for the Flats Buy Out Program. Personal Statement: I am very dedicated, passionate, a people person, highly motivated and I love the City of Oneida. We made our choice 39 years ago to move here and make Oneida our home. We live here surrounded by good people with good morals and good values. I want Oneida to continue to grow, get better, be a place we can all be proud of, a place where our children want to come home to and raise their children.

I believe that with my experience, work history, civic involvement and my dedication to the City we can make Oneida the best place to be. I am challenge driven, a good listener, a leader, a team worker and a motivator. I have the skills in Project Management, Business Operations Management, Budgeting, Negations, Staff Training and hitting Deadlines.
